LeesaMaree Bleicher is a trauma-informed advocate, writer, and lived-experience expert whose work centers on youth justice, mental health, and animal welfare. A survivor of human trafficking and complex trauma, she has spent more than 25 years working in addiction recovery and community-based mental health programs, including within jails and prisons. She holds a BA in humanities, an MA in psychology, and a CADC III, and is currently pursuing a PhD in psychology. Bleicher has served in leadership roles supporting youth who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation, court-mandated intervention programs, and San Quentin’s “No More Tears” initiative. Her advocacy also extends to the care and protection of community cats, reflecting her commitment to humane, trauma-responsive approaches for both people and animals. She is a contributor to the Observatory.
